We’ve written before about how important it is that your sewer line in Bloomington, IL is operating properly. What we’d like to talk about today is the difference between actually cleaning a sewer line, and just clearing it out. These are not terms that should be used interchangeably.
Because of the important job that your sewer line does on your property, you really need to know that it is functioning properly. We’re here to see to it that this is the case. When you need to schedule any sewer line services, ours is definitely the number to call.
Cleaning vs. Clearing
Clearing out a sewer line is a very common practice, but it is not always the best method of getting a sewer line back in prime working condition. When a sewer line is cleared out, an auger is fed into the sewer line. This is much like the drain snake that you may have seen a plumber use on a clog in your sink or tub, but on a bigger scale. It won’t be cranked by hand, but instead will be mechanical.
These augers may be outfitted with any number of different heads on them, and a professional plumber will ensure that the right one is used in any given situation. There is nothing wrong with clearing out a sewer in this manner, but it won’t be terribly effective in certain situations.
When we actually clean out a sewer line, we’ll use our hydro jetting equipment. This allows us to blast away at the debris collected on the walls of the pipe, effectively scouring and cleaning its surfaces, rather than just clearing out the middle of that pipe. It is a longer lasting solution, particularly if you face frequent clogs on your property.
